Our Staff


Dr. Sheinkopf, Dr. Tomasik, and Dr. Stevens  have over 70 years of combined experience providing families from all over Cape Cod, the Islands and the South Coast with the highest quality eye care.

Our three registered dispensing Opticians have over 65 years combined experience in the eye care field. All of our eye care professionals commit many hours each year in continuing education programs to stay current with the state of the art in optometry and opticianry.

The practice was established by Dr Sheinkopf in 1972 in South Yarmouth. Dr Tomasik joined the practice in 1999 and became senior partner and owner of the practice in 2005. Dr. Sheinkopf retired from clinical practice in 2016 and Dr. Stevens joined the practice in 2016.

The office was expanded and completely renovated in 2012. The current facility is over 2400 sq feet with plenty of parking. Our reception desk, waiting area and optical dispensary is gorgeous with beautiful displays and comfortable seating. We have over 800 frames on display from budget to high end designer styles. Our staff is friendly and helpful, you are always treated like family. Know that we have your best interest at heart and do our best to provide the finest care possible. Moreover, we come from a family committed to eye care and the community, providing long-term eye care to generations of patients and working hard to make our community a better place to live.

Meet Dr. Thomas Tomasik

Dr. Tomasik’s major areas of interest include contact lenses, refractive surgery, and general eye care. He specializes in difficult-to-fit contact lenses, including those for kerataconus, post corneal transplants, and post ocular trauma. He has conducted clinical research on both soft and gas-permeable contact lenses for numerous contact lens companies.

Dr_TomasikDr. Tomasik attended Syracuse University, where he graduated in 1984. He is a graduate of the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Dr. Tomasik has been a practicing optometrist at Sheinkopf & Tomasik Eye Care Associates since 1999 and became senior partner in 2005. He served on numerous state and college councils, committees, and boards while attending optometry school and received many awards.

Dr. Tomasik comes from a family committed to eye care and to their community, including his father, brother, and wife. He is dedicated to volunteering his time to the community as the past president of the Rotary Club of Yarmouth, Past Chairman of Newburyport Yankee Homecoming, as well as by holding several positions in the Lions Club of Newburyport.

He is a Paul Harris fellow in Rotary International and has been named the Yarmouth Rotary Club Rotarian of the Year. He is past president of Cape Cod Eye Care Associates, a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Tomasik resides with his wife and three children in Brewster. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, skiing, woodworking, and spending time with his family.

Meet Dr. David Sheinkopf

Dr. SheinkopfDr. Sheinkopf retired from clinical practice in June of 2016. He graduated from Tufts University and received his Doctorate of Optometry from the Massachusetts College of Optometry in Boston.

After receiving his degree, he worked for Eastman Kodak as an occupational optometrist. Dr. Sheinkopf was a captain in the army and served as assistant clinic chief of optometry at Reynolds Army Hospital in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Dr. Sheinkopf served as the charter chairman of the Cape Cod district of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists. He also served as a member of the Massachusetts State Board of Registration in Optometry. Dr. Sheinkopf is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists and the American Optometric Association. Currently, he resides with his wife in Yarmouth Port.

Meet Dr. Ashley Jadene Stevens

Dr. Ashley Jadene StevensOriginally from Cape Cod, Dr. Stevens attended Harwich Public Schools and graduated from Wellesley College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Dr. Stevens is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Stevens completed her optometric training, with emphases in primary care and ocular disease, at private practices throughout New England, Manchester VA Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital at Martha Eliot Health Center and Boston Medical Center, among others. She has provided optometric care while participating in humanitarian trips to Central America and is committed to providing the highest quality of eye care to all patients.

After living in the greater Boston area for ten years, Dr. Stevens is pleased to have returned to her hometown of Harwich, where she currently resides. In her free time she is an avid squash player and Red Sox fan. Additionally, she enjoys skiing, sailing and exploring the beaches of Cape Cod.

Meet Karen Buszka

IMG_8819bMy career in the optical field started in Sitka, Alaska in 1982.

After I completed my apprenticeship, I became an optician in 1988.

I have been employed on Cape Cod for 28 years and have been with Sheinkopf and Tomasik Eye Care since 2005.

 

 

Meet Laura Cantelli

IMG_8792aMy career in the optical business began in 2001.

I completed my apprenticeship in 2004 and after months of classes was ready for the State of Massachusetts Board Exam. After passing 2 State Exams I became an optician in May of 2006.

I have been a part of the optical team at Sheinkopf and Tomasik Eye Care since 2006.

 

 

Meet Susan Tomasik

Susan TomasikI have been in the optical industry since 1980.

I started as an optometric technician and became an optician in 1983, earning a B.S. in Health Management from Northeastern University along the way.

I am married to Dr. Tomasik and we have 3 children. I enjoy cycling, reading, cooking, skiing, and scrapbooking. I have been working here at Sheinkopf and Tomasik Eye Care since 2003.

 

Meet Carolyn Calderwood

Optician Carolyn CalderwoodI started my optical career right here on Cape Cod in 2000.

I passed the American Board of Opticianry in 2001 and continued my apprenticeship passing my state exams in 2004 to become a licensed dispensing optician in the state of Massachusetts.

I joined the optical team of Sheinkopf & Tomasik Eye Care in 2016.
