“Dr Ashley is a very professional doctor. I appreciate the way she spoke with me… one on one and answered all my questions. She didn’t side step nor were her answers vague. She is quite succinct in her manner and profession. I was comfortable and at ease. She is a 10 out of 10!! I would highly recommend her!” - Stanley M.

My 19 year old granddaughter, visiting from out of state, was suffering from a painful, light-sensitive condition. We were very fortunate in being given an immediate appointment. FAQs

What should I bring with me to my exam?

Please bring ALL glasses that you wear, as well as any contact lens information for your current lenses. This may include the boxes, or the last contact lens prescription that you were issued by your prior eye doctor. Please come wearing your contact lenses and bring a case and solution, as we will have you remove your lenses for the ocular health examination.

Can I bring a guest to the exam with me?

Due to COVID-19 precautions, we ask that patients come with as few guests as possible at this time. If you are accompanying a patient, we will also screen the guest with COVID-19 protocols. If you would like a guest to join for glasses selection, we will also screen the guest.

If I wear contact lenses, should I wear them to the exam?

Yes! Please come wearing your contact lenses.

If my child is under 18, does a parent/guardian have to be present at the exam?

Yes. If a patient is a minor, he/she must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

At what age do you start seeing kids?

We start seeing kids at 5 years old.  Early eye exams are essential to ensure normal visual development and confirm there are no vision problems that might affect academic performance at school. Of note, The American Optometric Association (AOA) recommends children have their first eye exam with an optometrist at six months old, followed by 3 years old, and again around 5-6 years old.

Will my eyes be dilated at my examination?

Yes, plan to have your eyes dilated. This allows us to assess the ocular health of the eye, including checking for cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and much more. Dilation means the eyes will be sensitive to light and that near vision will be blurred for several hours after leaving the exam. Most patients may drive themselves; however, we always ask patients to assess their comfort levels and, if they are not comfortable, to please bring a driver. We provide disposable sunglasses for those who would like.

In Need Of Custom Eye Wear?

We provide our patients with eye wear solutions that are specific to their daily needs. Whether you’re an avid golfer, boater, or are just looking for comfort when in front of a computer, Sheinkopf & Tomasik will find the right solution for you.
